Our Lumber Yard
Lumber Barn is located in Bradford NH part of the Lake Sunapee Region, providing lumber products for over 30 years. We have grown to the great company that we are today because of that same dedication to providing excellent lumber and wood products. Our great, knowledgeable experts have a firm understanding of all of the brands and types of lumber that we provide. Most of our brands use sustainable forestry and are trying to find the best ways to help the environment. Lumber Barn offers a wide selection of the best types of lumber that are currently on the market.
Types Of Lumber

The most economical and versatile wood species available. Stocked in #3 Knotty Pine and a Knot-free D-Select. We stock widths of 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12 inches and lengths of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16. We also have Shiplap with overlaps on the edges one side rough and the other planed. The is also a dual-purpose V-Groove one side & Edge/Center Bead on the other.

When interior projects call for painted mouldings, BROSCO’s Finger-Jointed & Primed (FJP) moulding offer an extremely cost effective, and labor-saving option. The plantation grown lumber is offered in select lengths to maximize yield and minimize waste on the job site.

Spruce-pine-fir lumber popularly known as SPF, a combination of Engelmann Spruce, Lodgepole Pine, and Subalpine Fir. This popular lumber is commonly used throughout North America because of its versatility, it can be used in many areas, namely residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial buildings. Kiln-dried and stocked 2” width and even lengths from 8’ to lengths up to 24’.

PT lumber has been infused with chemical preservatives to protect the wood from rot and insects. The wood is placed in a depressurized holding tank that removes the air and replaces it with a preservative. This is the best product to avoid harmful rots and insects but does not prevent weathering and corrosion. Stocked in tradition sizes, 4X4, 4X6, 6X6 & 8X8 beams, ½ & ¾ inch plywood, skirtboard, 5/4 deck boards and balusters.

Locally harvested Hemlock is milled and sold green and rough cut on all sides.  Moderately light in weight, moderately hard, coarse grained and uneven in texture. It may be used in structural applications, sheathing, subflooring, landscaping and raised bed gardens. As it dries hemlock with check and shrink in width, so it is unsuitable for some applications. Stocked in 1”X, 2”X and 6”X, traditional widths 4, 6, 8, 10 and even lengths from 8 to 16. Please call for current availability.

Often referred to as Doug Fir, this wood has a straight pronounced grain with a reddish-brown tint. Due to its strength, it is also one of the finest timbers for heavy construction purposes such exposed beam buildings and roof trusses.

Red Cedar’s natural resistance to moisture, decay and insect damaged lends itself to a variety of construction purposes. It is a stable wood that seasons easily and quickly with a very low shrinkage factor. It is free from pitch and has excellent finishing qualities. Stock in 2”X4” or 6” dimension as well as 5/4 X 6” Decking boards.

The most economical hardwood available. Poplar is used for making furniture, cabinets, shelving and trim work. It is one of the easiest hardwoods to work with almost similar to pine. Stocked in common trim sizes.

P5® treated Trim Boards are produced from plantation Radiata Pine. The kiln dry blanks are engineered into 4/4 and 5/4 Boards which are pressure treated with an Azole based treatment system. The Organic Biocides used in the Azole based treatment system also includes water repellent components. All components in the P5® Boards are insoluble in water and will not leach out of the Boards. After treatment, P5® is coated with a 2 coat Oil Based Paint System.

LSL is made from flaked wood strands. Combined with an adhesive, the strands are oriented and formed into a large mat or billet and pressed. The billet is then cut into various dimensional lumber sizes for a variety of applications from studs to millwork components when the straightest materials are required. Stocked in 2X4 and 2X6 in 8’ and 10’ lengths.

LVL is an engineered wood product that uses multiple layers of thin wood assembled with adhesives then pressed into its finished size. It is typically used for headers, beams, rimboard, and edge forming material. Made under controlled specifications, it is stronger, straighter, and more uniform. Stock 9 ½ & 11 7/8 by various lengths.

Manufactured from heat-cured adhesives and rectangular shaped wood strands that are arranged in cross-oriented layers. Produced in large continuous mats, OSB is a solid-panel product of consistent quality with few voids or gaps. The finished product is an engineered wood panel that shares many of the strength and performance characteristics of plywood.

CDX plywood has a veneer grade “C” side and one side veneer grade “D”. The layers are bonded together with exterior strength glue which can withstand some moisture. Stocked 3/8, ½, 5/8 and ¾ inch thicknesses.

This hardwood plywood is unparalleled in its panel strength and beautiful veneer grade “A” sides. It is one of the most expensive types of plywood but is renowned for its grain texture, durability and ease of finishing interior projects.

MDF is an engineered wood product made by breaking down hardwood and softwood residuals into fibers. These fibers are then combined with wax and a resin binder and formed into panels by applying heat and pressure.

Hardboard is a fiber board similar to MDF but is made of exploded wood fibers which allows it to be denser and much stronger than MDF. It also comes with a Super White coating on one side often used in places that need a cleanable surface such as a bathroom of kitchen splashguard.

AZEK PVC Trim & MouldingAzek trim is a more workable and durable replacement to traditional wood in non-stress and non-load bearing applications. It is easily milled, routed and heat formed for exquisite custom looks or curved applications. Azek trim does not require paint for protection but is easily painted for aesthetic purposes. Also available in several shaped mouldings.
